Register to pay Council tax by direct debit

Direct debit is a quicker and simpler way to pay your Council Tax.

Important: If you are behind with your Council Tax payments DO NOT submit an online form. To discuss your payment options, contact: Council Tax.

Banks need 10 working days' notice (excludes weekends and Bank Holidays) to process a new Direct Debit.

Allow two working days for us to process your request. We will not be able to process your request or contact you, if:

  • your chosen instalment date falls within this period and we are collecting at least three instalments;
  • or you have received a summons.

If successful, we will send you an amended bill that shows your Council Tax is being paid by Direct Debit.

Before you begin, it would be helpful to have these details to hand:

  • Council Tax reference number.

For more information, see: Council Tax.
