For support for parents/carers and young people, please direct them to: Advice and Support.
Unique Ways
They are contracted to deliver Independent Support to parent carers and young people in Calderdale.
They can:
- Offer help to understand the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHC) process and your rights.
- Support you to put your story together for Section A of the plan.
- Give you independent information and refer you to other sources of support.
- Act on your behalf, they are independent of the local authority.
- Attend reviews and meetings with you.
- Support you with correspondence.

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information, Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS)
Formerly the Parent Partnership Service. This offers parents:
- a legally based, impartial, special educational needs service;
- with confidential and accessible information, advice and support around education, health and social care.
It offers:
- face-to-face, phone and electronic information advice;
- also, casework and representation when needed.
They work impartially and confidentially with parents and children/young people together.
A service can be offered directly and separately to children/young people if they want this.
