How to book, change or cancel your ceremony.

Booking a ceremony with us

To book a registrar for a ceremony that will take place in Calderdale, email: ceremonies.team@calderdale.gov.uk.

Please include:

  • venue name
  • ceremony date and time
  • your phone number
  • nationality and immigration status (only if either or you are not British citizens).

When you can book

Our registrars perform ceremonies every day of the year except:

  • Christmas Day
  • Boxing Day
  • New Year's Day. 

You can book up to 12 months (to the day) in advance of your ceremony.

Ceremonies within 2 months of the booking date will only be accepted if you are able to secure an appointment to give notice.

You can book ceremonies at Calderdale Register Office or Spring Hall for dates from February 2026. No dates are available before then.

All bookings are:

  • first come first served
  • subject to registrar availability.

Cost

The price and amount required upfront depends on the date and venue, see: Ceremony fees.

Changes to your ceremony

You may change the following aspects of your ceremony, subject to us being able to accommodate the new booking:

  • Date
  • Time
  • Venue*

Any payments you’ve already made will be transferred. We'll let you know if extra fees apply.

* If you change the venue after giving notice, you'll need to give notice and pay the notice fee again

Cancel your ceremony

You can cancel at any time, but we are not able to refund any:

  • Notice fees
  • Non-refundable booking fees

To cancel, you must inform us by email at ceremonies.team@calderdale.gov.uk.
