What this is
Some building works and changes of use can be undertaken without the need for a planning application. This is granted via permitted development rights in national planning legislation.
An Article 4 Direction is when a council removes these rights.
When this happens, you must get planning permission from us if you want to develop something.
- An Article 4 can include measures to prevent changes of use of a property.
- When you apply, it will be assessed the same as any other, based on:
- policies that apply in the development plan
- and relevant considerations.
- You will need to pay the fees that relate to an application.
