Todmorden is a thriving old mill town and undoubtedly, its heart is the busy marketplace. Todmorden Market Hall is a unique Victorian, glass roofed indoor market, right next door to our thriving Todmorden Open Market.

The markets began as an annual fair during the 17th century where mainly cattle was sold. This developed into two annual fairs and the markets commenced in 1802 at White Hart Fold. With the development of the Town Council, it was determined that an improved marketplace was required. The market moved to its current site on Burnley Road in the middle of the 19th century. The Market Hall was then added in 1879.

It is a real treat for the senses. Wander in and enjoy the alluring aroma of freshly ground coffee and the nostalgic smell of the old-fashioned sweet shop. Fanatical foodies will be impressed with the range and quality of what is on offer.

You can find:

  • Locally reared meat.
  • Seasonal treats such as asparagus spears, bilberries and roast chestnuts.
  • Plump Kalamati olives, sun blush tomatoes and chorizo.

You will discover a wide range of local delights, including chocolates, flowers, books, cards and other delicious delicacies. Our cheese stall offers something for all palates - crumbly or creamy, fruity or spicy, we have it all.

If you need a break from shopping, our indoor café offers 50 types of coffee. Sit back, listen to the banter of our friendly stall holders and take in the atmosphere of this unique market.
