Co-opted members

We appoint co-opted members to serve on Committees and Scrutiny Panels and give their input.

We value input from others when considering issues that relate to our services for people in Calderdale.

To get as much input as possible, we can appoint co-opted members to serve on Committees and Scrutiny Panels. At the moment, these are on the:

  • Children and Young People (CYP) Scrutiny Panel.
  • Standards Committee.

These members are:

  • Normally people who represent a specific area of interest or issue that is being considered.
  • Not elected members of the Council.
  • Appointed because of their level of knowledge and experience, such as local church representatives.

They make a very useful contribution to discussions and help make decisions on important matters.

At times, Parent school governors are elected to serve on the CYP Scrutiny Panel. These are normally from Primary, Secondary and Special Needs Schools.
