Public Services - Waste Services – Household Waste and Recycling Centre Permits
Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council of Town Hall, Crossley Street, Halifax, HX1 1UJ is registered with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) under the provision of the Data Protection Act 2018. The Council takes its responsibilities as Data Controller under the Act very seriously.
This privacy notice explains how your personal information will be used when applying for a permit to use Calderdale Household Waste and Recycling Centres (HWRC).
The type of information we will collect
The following personal information may be collected directly from you:
- Name and address
- Email address and telephone number(s)
- Council tax reference
- vehicle registration number
Why we collect and hold this information
The purposes of processing your personal information are:
- for the administration, operation, monitoring, enforcement, and management of the Calderdale HWRC permit schemes.
- to process your application and where necessary check your eligibility for a HWRC permit
- to prevent misuse of the Council’s HWRC
Sharing your personal data
Your personal information will be shared with Calderdale Council’s Council Tax Team for the purpose of checking your eligibility for a permit. Calderdale Council is required by law to protect the public funds it administers. It may share information provided to it with other bodies responsible for auditing or administering public funds, to prevent or detect fraud. We will never share your personal information with third parties without your consent unless the law allows us to do so.
The lawful basis for the processing your data
Personal data is processed under the following lawful bases:
- Article 6(c) - for compliance with a legal obligation to which the controller is subject (Environmental Protection Act 1990)
- Article 6(e) - for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller
Retaining your personal information
Your personal data will be retained until the end of the permit period and then destroyed.
Your rights

- The right to object
