How we use your information

Calderdale Council is registered with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) under the provisions of the Data Protection Act 2018. The Council takes its responsibilities under the Act very seriously.

The information provided by you is collected purely for the purposes of providing you with a response to your query. We need to collect this information in order to maintain accurate records of your contact details and of your query. In order to deal with your enquiry we may need to share your information, as appropriate, with:

• Departments within this Council.
• Other governmental bodies, such as the Police, NHS bodies and DWP.
• External organisations that include housing providers.

Sharing your details with us means that you give consent for us to process your data for these purposes.

You can withdraw your consent at any time in writing, email: labour.group@calderdale.gov.uk.

You also have the right to:

• See what information is held about you.
• Have inaccurate information corrected.
• Have information removed from our system. (Unless we are required by law or a statutory purpose to keep it)
• Complain to the Data Protection Officer if you feel that your data has not been handled lawfully.

Your name and contact details are recorded electronically on our system to keep up-to-date records. This will be kept for:

• a maximum of six years after the last contact on any specific matter;
• or until the data is reviewed by us or removed at your request.
