So, Tom, I wanted to ask, how's everything going?
[Coach] On your marks, set, (whistle trills).
(somber instrumental music)
(footsteps patter)
(school bell rings) Sorry, love. We're done.
[Coach] These are from lost property. Stick them on.
Yeah, you know, it's, it's been
(parents fight) different.
(door smacks)
(footsteps patter) (somber music continues)
I was tired.
I'm gonna need you to make a delivery for us. Okay?
(somber music continues)
Hey, boy, boy, where you going?
No, hey, where you going?
(footsteps patter)
I suppose I felt like giving in.
(footsteps patter) (crowd cheers)
So, d'you know what foster care is?
(gentle instrumental music)
Just them knowing that you're around
and that they can go to you if they want to.
(footsteps patter) (crowd cheers)
It's not what I expected.
(footsteps patter) (gentle music continues)
Is our puppy coming in?
Yeah. Mia has biscuits.
(pellets clink)
In what way?
(foster mom and daughter chatter)
I thought they'd let me down like everybody else.
You don't know how it's gonna go.
I've been here a while now. It's really okay.
I didn't know who they were or why they would care.
No.
Here.
About me. Yes. (gentle music continues)
(footsteps patter)
At first, I just wanted to run.
Just kicked my foot and I went like...
(porcelain shatters)
(gentle music continues)
All the time.
[Foster Mom] Tom, it's all right.
[Foster Dad] I'll clean it up.
And now, d'you still want to run?
(crowd cheers and applauds) (gentle music continues)
Come on! Come on!
Yes! Yes!
Yes!
(crowd cheering continues) He came third! (laughs)
Yeah. Yes, I do.
Yeah!
My boy! Look what you did!
I'm so proud!
I'm so proud of you! And next time,
I'm gonna win.
(family chatters) (gentle music continues)
‘The Run’ marks the seventh fostering awareness film project jointly funded by over 90 local authority fostering services.
Now more than ever, we're seeking new families to join our fostering community. There’s an urgent need for more foster carers to step forward across the country and Calderdale is no different.
We currently have more children needing homes than we have foster carers available. That’s why we’re looking for people who can offer a supportive and loving environment - something that every child deserves.
One of the most rewarding aspects of fostering is seeing how a child thrives in your care. Foster for Calderdale and see the positive impact you can have on someone's life.
