Disability sport and activities

Physical activities that may help you to cope better with the effects of your disability here.

Sport and physical activity improve physical fitness. It can also help you:

  • improve your confidence;
  • be more social aware;
  • and feel empowered.

Our Sports service offer a range of disability specific and adapted sport and leisure activities. These are suitable for most ages. Our sessions take place in sports centres and pools across Calderdale and in other community settings.

Inclusive PE and sport programme

The Disability Sports Development Team work with staff in mainstream, special primary and secondary schools in Calderdale. They promote the inclusion of SEND children and young people in curriculum and 'out of school' PE and sport programmes.

Post-18 disability sport development

We work closely with statutory, third sector and regional partners. This is to enable people with varying abilities to access their chosen leisure provision.

We also work with local voluntary sports clubs. This to help promote the taking part of SEND children, young people and adults in sports specific coaching sessions. Also, regular involvement in disability specific and mainstream competitions and events.
