Better Care Fund - Calderdale Plan
The Government brought in the Better Care Fund (BCF) to promote integration in health and social care. Its aim is to offer services that work better together for people that need support.
For more about this, please visit: Better Care Fund (GOV.UK).
Our BCF Plan is not just about health and social care. It is also about communities and our society. Our plan brings together the wider services that can support people to live at home. This is the third sector, community groups, housing and the civic sector.
Our NHS England approved plan shows:
- How the fund will benefit Calderdale.
- Our objectives.
- How we will do it.

Calderdale Cares - Carers' Strategy
This includes carers of all ages. It builds on progress made at a local, regional and national level. Views and feedback from carers across the borough are included. Most important is that it values the unique role that carers play in the health and care system. The aim is that carers in Calderdale have the right support and a sense of belonging.
Around 10% of people in Calderdale are carers. Health and care partners know the range of backgrounds and circumstances of carers. The 'priorities' will allow carers to live a larger life, alongside their caring role.
Partners have described how, by working together with carers, they aim to:
- reduce inequalities;
- support carers physically, mentally, socially and financially;
- and improve the information, advice and guidance made available for carers.
How they will do this has been set out in a five-year plan:
