In July 2023 Calderdale MBC approved the Housing Enforcement Policy.
This enforcement policy aims to:
- Demonstrate the transparency of enforcement with respect to dwellings in the borough of Calderdale. This comprises the townships of Brighouse, Elland, Halifax, Hebden Bridge, Sowerby Bridge and Todmorden. It outlines legal requirements, policies and principles. These must be followed by owner-occupiers, landlords, letting and managing agents, and tenants, when officers regulate housing-related legislation.
- Improve housing conditions and raise the standard of property management.
- Assist in the provision of safer, healthier, affordable, and warmer dwellings. This enables people within Calderdale to benefit from healthy housing and environments.
- Contribute to the growing housing demand by helping to bring empty domestic dwellings back into use.
