Late applications

In exceptional circumstances, an application received after the closing date may be considered as on time, where a:

1. Single parent living alone with their child has been ill for some time. The application must be supported by a doctor's note and evidence of being a single parent.

2. House move over three miles for secondary and two miles for primary, within or into Calderdale has been completed between:

   • 31st October 2024 and 31st December 2024 for secondary schools;
   • 15th January 2025 and 15th February 2025 for primary schools.

   (This is determined by a straight line measurement.)

   The application must be supported by appropriate evidence. (Such as, solicitor's letter to confirm completion of house purchase or copy of rental agreement for a property in Calderdale. Both of these must be relevant to residency).

3. Service family (or crown servants returning from overseas) has moved into the area after the closing date. The application will be treated as 'on time' wherever this is practicable to do so.

House moves of less than three miles for secondary and two miles for primary are not exceptional circumstances. (As determined by a straight line measurement).

Exceptional circumstances can only be considered where an application has been received with:

• Any supplementary forms and supporting evidence;
• by 31st December 2024 for secondary and 15th February 2025 for primary schools.

A late preference for a non-Calderdale school can only be considered before offer day. (If the admission authority and local authority determine there is enough time to consider it.)

• Secondary applications:
  • Those received between 3rd March 2025 and 15th March 2025 will be processed along with any reallocation requests.
  • Notification of an offer will be made by 29th March 2025.
  • Applications received after 15th March 2025 will be dealt with in order of date received.
• Primary applications:
  • Those received between 16th April 2025 and 30th April 2025 will be processed along with any reallocation requests.
  • Notification of an offer will be made by 14th May 2025.
  • Applications received after 30th April 2025 will be dealt with in order of date received.
