Help shape the future of transport in Calderdale!
This strategy was adopted in 2016:
We now look to refresh it to reflect new challenges, opportunities and priorities. The updated strategy will guide how we plan, invest in and deliver transport across Calderdale. We also want it to:
- reflect the real priorities;
- lived experiences;
- and aspirations of our residents, communities and businesses.
First consultation
This closed on Sunday 27th July and focused on the draft vision and objectives.
Draft vision
-
Calderdale in Motion
From valley floors to Pennine peaks, our transport network will support resilient places, thriving people and a healthy planet.
Draft strategic objectives
Focused on building a resilient, thriving and healthy Calderdale through smarter travel choices, greater connectivity and reduced environmental impact.
- Healthy: Use everyday journeys to proactively improve health through enabling more physical activity to reduce transport's carbon and pollution footprint.
- Resilient: Enable journeys through a transport system that effectively manages risk on a constrained network. Also, builds confidence in sustainable travel to make sure Calderdale can adapt to future challenges.
- Thriving: Help our communities, businesses and innovators to flourish. Also, support local opportunity, access to education/employment and stronger links with our regional neighbours.
What we will do next
- Analyse the feedback.
- Publish the results in the coming weeks.
- Refine the draft vision and objectives based on your input. These will then be used to create the full Draft Transport Strategy.
Second consultation
We plan to start this in October 2025. You will have the chance to review and comment on the full Draft Transport Strategy.
Your voice matters, so help us shape a transport system that works for everyone in Calderdale!
