Halifax Outer - King Cross - Bull Green Corridor Improvement Project - Proposed TROs

A package of improvement measures on our main transport corridors.

We propose a package of improvement measures on our main transport corridors. This is to improve traffic flows, reduce congestion, reduce accidents and stimulate economic growth.

The measures proposed aim to prioritise pedestrians and cyclists whilst supporting local regeneration objectives.

To facilitate these improvements in the King Cross area, a number of changes are required to existing traffic regulation orders.

In summary, the intended collective effect of the Orders and will be as follows:

King Cross Road, King Cross

Kerb realignments and the introduction of a zebra crossing and cycle lanes, which requires:

  • the relocation of limited waiting and loading bays;
  • with the introduction of additional 'No waiting and No loading at any time' restrictions.

Limited waiting restrictions in the existing bay, outside the shops near Trafalgar Street.

Free School Lane

The introduction of a one way system on Free School Lane from Skircoat Moor Road to Spring Edge. This includes:

  • the addition of unrestricted parking bays;
  • 'No right turn' from Skircoat Moor Road in to Free School Lane;
  • and changes to the current waiting restrictions to facilitate the new layout.

A58 King Cross Road (King Cross to Bull Green)

'No Waiting At Any Time' restrictions on the A58 King Cross Road, Hyde Park and Norfolk Place. This is to facilitate the safe introduction of a new cycle route along this corridor.
