Mayroyd Lane, Hebden Bridge - Traffic Regulation

Prohibition of Motor Vehicles, Mayroyd Lane (Crow Nest Bridge), Hebden Bridge.

The Borough Council of Calderdale (Mayroyd Lane, Hebden Bridge) (No. 1) Traffic Regulation Order 2025

In 2021 a structural survey was carried out on Crow Nest Bridge, Hebden Bridge and it was deemed not safe to carry motor vehicles. As a result, a temporary prohibition was put in place preventing vehicles from using the bridge by way of an Temporary Traffic Regulation Order. The temporary Order expired in May 2022.

Remedial works to strengthen the bridge are unlikely to be realistically carried out in the near future. As such, it is proposed to make the closure permanent by way of a Traffic Regulation Order. An alternative route to properties to the south of the bridge can be made via Hebble End, Shelf Road and Palace House Road. Access across the bridge will still be available for pedestrian, cyclists, wheelchair users and horse riders.
