Proposed scheme
Calderdale Council have proposed a package of improvement measures on the A646/A6033/A58 corridors. This is to improve traffic flows, reduce congestion, reduce accidents and stimulate economic growth.
The measures proposed prioritise pedestrians and support local regeneration proposals.
To facilitate these improvements in the Sowerby Bridge area, a number of changes are required to existing traffic regulation orders.
In summary, the intended collective effect of the above Orders will be as follows:
Rochdale Road, Triangle
Junction protection at its junction with Woodlands, Parkfield Drive and East Street
Pye Nest Road/Rochdale Road
Kerb realignments and the introduction of cycle lanes requires the introduction of no waiting at any time restrictions to prevent parking in the cycle lane. No waiting at any time junction protection around the junctions off Pye Nest Road and Rochdale Road
Oldham Road, Ripponden
Extend existing waiting restrictions and change to no waiting at any time
Oldham Road, Rishworth
Provision of a pelican crossing, changes to kerb alignments and amendments to exiting waiting restrictions and school keep clear markings at Rishworth School.
Luddenden Foot
Provision of a pelican crossing, changes to kerb alignments and amendments to existing waiting restrictions and removal of existing school keep clear markings at Luddenden Foot academy. Junction protection at the Cooperfields/Burnley Road junction
Wharf Street
Kerb realignments to enable widening of footways, with alterations and removal of some on-street parking. Also other amendments to waiting and loading restrictions to facilitate these improvements. The provision of a new signalised crossing
Tuel Lane
Kerb line realignments to enable better traffic flow, supplemented by amendments to waiting and loading restrictions and a relocated zebra crossing
