The garden waste service is optional. If you do not want to have it, there are other ways to deal with your garden waste.
Home composting
This is a good way to improve your garden. Turn garden waste and uncooked kitchen waste, such as fruit and vegetable peelings, into a rich soil.
We encourage residents to do this so less organic waste goes to landfill.
- Also see: compost bins.
Recycling Centres
There are skips to deposit your garden waste at all our Recycling Centres.
Take grass cuttings, hedge clippings and tree branches, which will be taken away to be composted.
The finished product is returned to the land as a soil improver.
Recycle Christmas trees
- In January, we will collect them if they are under 6 feet tall, along with your other recycling.
- You can take them to any of our Recycling Centres.
There is also a collection point at Ogden Water Nature Reserve.
- Trees with roots will be planted in the woodland to add to the diverse range of trees present.
- Trees that do not have roots will be used to create a border around the reservoir.
Please note: In all cases, remove any decorations.
