Applications for allotments vary slightly depending on the type of site. There is a high demand for allotment plots, with waiting lists present on all allotment sites. Your preferred sites must be stated upon application. Half-sized plots maybe offered to prospective tenants to create more manageable plots.

Termination policy for Council managed sites
Allotment plots must be cultivated in accordance with allotment agreements and any guidelines which are issued.
Allotments are inspected two or three times a year by independent assessors. If a plot does not meet the required cultivation standard then the tenant will be informed of the inspection report.
- They are given the chance to declare any mitigating circumstances (which will be treated in confidence).
- Deadlines for rectification will be given. These will allow reasonable time for the tenant to take action, bearing in mind the time of year.
- Where appropriate, a plot plan showing the tenant's intentions for the coming year will be requested. However, tenants must reply within the required timescales.
If on a subsequent inspection the plot still does not meet the required cultivation standard or the agreed improvement plan and there are no mitigating circumstances, then the tenancy will be terminated.
