Get to know other people in your community while learning creative photography and animation skills.
- Gain an understanding of how to use a camera and feel confident when taking pictures outside of the classroom.
- Build your confidence to share your work.
- Provide positive and constructive feedback on other people’s work.
- Support each other to improve and develop your skills.
- Use your new skills to get involved/volunteer with local community projects or form your own camera club.

First Step - These courses are for complete beginners. You don't need to have studied the subject before or have any previous knowledge.
Who is this course for?
Residents of Calderdale aged 19+ who want to strengthen their role within their local community while learning and exploring new skills.
First Step – The start of your learning journey. Explore how you can build your confidence, connect with others, and learn new skills to start achieving your goals.
What do I need to bring?
- A notepad and pen.
- A digital camera and tripod. (The centre has a limited number of these, please ask at reception if you require a loan camera prior to the course starting.)
You will use Google Classroom throughout your course to view work from your lessons, receive messages from your tutor, and access online resources. You can access this on your smartphone, tablet, or laptop/computer. Your tutor will support you to log-in during your first lesson, and the Learner Support team is always on hand to help with any issues.
