The school nursing service in Calderdale is provided by Locala Community Partnerships. Our service promotes and supports the health and well-being of all school-age children. The focus is on:
"Identifying health needs, managing long and short term conditions in education settings for children and young people aged 5 to 19 years."
Your school nursing team consists of:
- Registered nurses (some of these are specialist Public Health qualified).
- School nurse assistants.
- A school nurse team leader.

What we offer
The team works with children and families, school staff and other professionals. We manage pupil wellbeing by:
- Delivering universal health services. This improves the lives of all, with proportionally greater resources for the most disadvantaged pupils.
- Proactive health needs identification, individual health assessments and suitable follow up activity.
- Support for pupils with long or short term medical conditions and vulnerable groups.
This includes:
- Health advice and support to schools, children and young people and their parents / carers.
- Deliver the National Child Measurement Program to all reception and year 6 pupils.
- Referral to specialist services.
- Support for children and families with special needs and complex medical needs.
- Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Promote healthy lifestyle options to people, families and communities.
- Support children with long and short term conditions including eczema, epilepsy, asthma and diabetes.
- Implement best practice in asthma care.
We support and assist education settings to be places that promote health. Our service is fair and impartial. Children and young people can access help in ways appropriate to their need. This is done with due respect to the age, gender, culture or race, religion, sexual orientation, learning needs and / or physical and emotional abilities of the child and their parents / carers.

School Nursing Team staff are available from Monday to Friday between 2.00pm and 5.00pm. Outside these hours, leave your details and a member of the School Nursing team will return your call.
