This privacy notice explains how your personal information will be processed if you participate in 2025 Open Art Competition.
The type of information we will collect
Name, address, telephone number and email address
A photograph of you may be taken for promotion and publicity purposes should you be one of the successful entrants.
Why we collect and hold this information
The personal data you have provided will be used to:
provide you with a receipt for your submission
maintain accurate records of the artworks submitted and attribute them to you whilst on display to the public
contact you to advise you of future art competitions that may be of interest to you, if you have said you would like to hear from us.
Sharing your personal data
Your name will appear alongside your artwork on public display in the gallery and may be shared with the general public in promotional material published by Calderdale Council. Your name and photograph may be shared with the media for publicity purposes. No other personal information will shared outside of Calderdale Council’s Museum Service. We will only ever share relevant information about you with third parties when there is a legal basis for us to do so.
The lawful basis for the processing your data
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:

You are able to remove your consent at any time. You can do this by contacting the Museums Manager, Bankfield Museum, Boothtown Road, Halifax, HX3 6HG.
Retaining your personal information
Your name and contact details are recorded electronically on our system to maintain up to date records. This information will be kept until 07 December 2025 when it will be securely destroyed.
Your rights
