Privacy Notice - How we use your information

Calderdale Council of Town Hall, Crossley Street, Halifax, HX1 1UJ is registered with the information Commissioners Office (ICO) under the provisions of the Data Protection Act 2018. The Council takes its responsibilities under the Act very seriously.

This notice explains how Calderdale Council (as Data Controller) will use your personal data in order to process and assess any funding applications made to the Covid-19 Business support Grant Funding Schemes.

What personal information is being processed?

The following personal information may be provided by you when completing your application:

  • Home Address
  • Email Address
  • Telephone Number
  • Bank Details
  • Details of tax registration
  • Details of fixed property costs if applicable
  • Details of how the Covid-19 pandemic has affected your business and income; dates your premises were closed and/or you were unable to work if applicable.

We may also share and receive information about you from other services within Calderdale Council, including Business Rates, Tourism Services and Council Tax, in order to check the validity of your application.

The purpose of processing

We collect your personal information for the following purpose(s):

  • To assess whether you and your business are eligible to receive financial support, and if so, to provide a payment to you
  • To update your business rates liability.

Legal basis for processing your personal data

The processing of your personal information is necessary as follows:

  • GDPR Article 6(1)(e) – for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller

Sharing your personal data

Your information will be shared with HMRC, the Audit commission and the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) LA Grants Data collection Team. Bank account details may be shared with Experian to run checks on bank accounts to make sure they are legitimate.

We will never share your information with third parties unless the law allows us to do so.

How long we keep your personal data

Successful funding applications and supporting information (including assessments and personal information) with be retained for 10 years from the date of the final grant transaction being made.

Unsuccessful, withdrawn or ineligible funding applications and supporting information will be retained for 6 years from the date of closure for grant applications.
