How we use your information
Calderdale Council is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) under the provisions of the Data Protection Act 2018. The Council takes its responsibilities under the Act very seriously.
The information provided by you is collected purely for the purpose of accountability, in making it possible for you to obtain copies of material from library collections which may be in copyright or may have conditions attached to its reproduction. You give information in response to statements outlining your responsibilities in regard to permitted use of the materials.
We need to collect this information in order to protect library staff in relation to subsequent use of material copied by them on your behalf, or to protect the rights of the Council or other copyright holders.
Sharing your information with us constitutes explicit consent from you for us to process your data for this purpose. Processing is necessary for compliance with the Council’s legal obligations under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988.
You have the right to see what information is held about you, to have inaccurate information corrected or to have information removed from our system unless we are required by law or a statutory purpose to keep it. The contact for this purpose is: libraries@calderdale.gov.uk.
You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Officer if you feel that your data has not been handled in accordance with the law. You can contact the Council’s Data Protection Officer at information.management@calderdale.gov.uk.
Your completed form, including name and contact details, will be retained in hard copy in an area of the library accessible only to members of staff. This information will be kept for 6 years.
