How we use your information

Calderdale Council of Town Hall, Crossley Street, Halifax, HX1 1UJ is registered with the information Commissioners Office (ICO) under the provisions of the Data Protection Act 2018. The Council takes its responsibilities under the Act very seriously.

This privacy notice explains how your personal information will be processed in connection with the “Something in the Air?” (SITA) Project, to engage local people of all ages in and around Sowerby Bridge with research concerning air quality and health.

The type of information we will process

The following personal information will be received from you:

  • Name
  • Email address

If you participate in the loan of an air quality monitor, we will also record your:

  • Telephone number
  • Library membership details, including address.

If you book onto a SITA event using Eventbrite, they will send us details of your booking.

Why we collect and hold this information

  • To engage with local people in research concerning air quality and health and let people know of events and activities within the project. 
  • To administer the loaning out and retrieval of air quality monitors if you have separately agreed to receive one. To contact you during/after use of the monitor to send out guidance around using the monitors, to discuss your findings and obtain your feedback on the experience and to contact people if the monitors are due for return (or overdue).
  • To produce a film/material on the findings of the project using your photos or video clips supplied if you have separately agreed to participate in this.

The lawful basis for the processing of your information

  • Article 6(1)(a) – your explicit consent to process the information for the purposes stated.
  • Article 6 (1)(b) – processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is party (where an agreement is signed to loan an air quality monitor).

Sharing your personal data

Your personal information will not be shared with any external organisations. We will never share your information with third parties without your consent unless the law allows us to do so.

How long we will keep your information

Calderdale Council will retain your personal information for the duration of the project until 31 December 2021, or until the successful return of an air quality monitor if after that date, at which time it will be securely destroyed.

If you have signed a consent form for your photos/video to be used in the production of a film, your consent form will be kept for three further years until 31 December 2024.

Your rights
