Personal licence applications - privacy notice

How we process the information provided by you in order to process your application for a Personal Licence.

Calderdale Council is registered with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) under the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998. The Council takes its responsibilities under the Act very seriously. 

The information provided by you is collected in order for the Council to process your application for a Personal Licence. Completion of this form and sharing your information with us constitutes explicit consent from you for us to process your data for this purpose. Processing your data is necessary for compliance with a legal duty and in the exercise of an official authority vested in the controller. 

We will share your data with: 

  • The Chief Officer of Police.

You may withdraw this consent at any time by writing to the Registration and Licensing Services Manager at licensing@calderdale.gov.uk 

In addition you have the right to see what information is held about you, to have inaccurate information corrected, to have information removed from our system unless we are required by law or a statutory purpose to keep it and the right to complaint to the Data Protection Officers if you feel that you data has not been handled in accordance with the law.

Your name, contact details and your application details are recorded electronically on our system. This information will be kept for 6 years from the date your licence concludes, unless the authority receives major complaints or information of a violent or sexual nature about you, therefore, your information will be retained for a period not exceeding 40 years from the date the licence concludes. 

Please note. With regard to the withdrawal of consent, where information is held in relation to your licence this may affect your ability to maintain that licence within the authority.
