MyAccount – Privacy Notice
Calderdale Council of Town Hall, Crossley Street, Halifax, HX1 1UJ is registered with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) under the provision of the Data Protection Act 2018. The Council takes its responsibilities as Data Controller under the Act very seriously.
This privacy notice describes how we will use your information to log your complaint either via the online MyAccount service, or direct to the Council; and to set up and maintain your MyAccount details if you choose to set up an online account.
The type of personal information collected
- Name
- Address
- Contact details – email address, phone number
- Information about how any noise complained about is impacting your quality of life.
The Purpose of Processing your Information
Your information is required for the following purposes:
- To log, investigate and close your complaint
- To contact you about the complaint and update you of its progression and the outcome
- To maintain your MyAccount details, protect access to it and update it with progress in your complaint.
Sharing your information
Your personal information will be shared with other relevant Council services, e.g. Environmental Health and the Community Safety team as necessary to deal with your complaint.
We always try to maintain the confidentiality of complainants when dealing with complaints, however due to location of some issues, this is not always possible. We will not divulge the identity of a complainant to the individual that is the subject of the complaint.
We will not share your information without your consent with any third parties unless we are required to do so by law.
The lawful basis for processing your information
Article 6(1)(e) - for the performance of a public task or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller
How long we will keep your information
Information provided by you will be held for 18 months from the date received, at which time it will then be securely destroyed.
Your rights
The GDPR provides the following rights for individuals. Not all rights are absolute and therefore will only apply in certain circumstances:
- The right to be informed
- The right of access
- The right to rectification
- The right to erasure
- The right to restrict processing
- The right to data portability
- The right to object
- Rights in relation to automated decision making and profiling.

You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Officer if you feel that your data has not been handled in accordance with the law. You can contact the Council’s Data Protection Officer at information.management@calderdale.gov.uk.
