Library IT Volunteer

Do you have a flair for IT that you would like to share with fellow residents?

We want friendly and approachable volunteers to deliver one to one tuition to the public.

The service

We:

  • Deliver a range of events, resources and services to help our communities stay active, engaged and connected.
  • Provide free computer access and digital tuition/support for residents in libraries across the borough.

About you

  • Good communication and listening skills.
  • Able to simply explain technical terms used in IT.
  • Competent in IT and wants to share their knowledge and skills.
  • Patient, flexible and a good sense of humour.
  • Friendly approachable manner and can encourage and motivate.

Please note: A standard DBS (criminal record check) will be needed.

The role

To give one-to-one IT instruction and support to members of the public.

For library users you will:

  • Help and support people to manage their own learning to maximise their skills and self-confidence.
  • Provide advice, support and coach them in IT skills to meet their specific needs.
  • Listen sympathetically and help them to work out solutions to their learning problems.
  • Offer a flexible and responsive service with library staff
  • Help with IT learning events, such as:
    • Adult Learners Week;
    • and support the 'Learn My Way' campaign as a Digital Champion.

Where

  • Brighouse.

When

  • Two or three one-hour sessions one day each week.
  • In library opening hours.

To be agreed between you and the library service.
