Refuse collection

Find out what we can offer to academies and schools.

What we can do for you

We offer your academy or school with a reliable and efficient waste collection service. There are a number of options to choose from and we would be happy to discuss these with you.

Waste is collected by SUEZ, who work on our behalf.

Pricing

The charges for the service options are given in the SLA agreed with your academy or school.

For 2022/23, these include:

  • The charge for refuse collections for 46 weeks during 2022/23 will be £15 per bin.

This includes the offer of a free mixed recycling collection (usually weekly depending on need). This now includes paper, card, corrugated cardboard, magazines, brochures, plastic bottles, pots/tubs, tins/cans and Tetrapak type cartons. We can also offer a separate collection of glass bottles and jars if required. Invoices will be sent out during May 2022.

  • For schools and academies not on the above contract, mixed recycling can be collected for £7.25 per collection.
  • We can offer to carry out a full waste audit for your school or academy. An audit makes sure you maximise your waste and recycling to get the best value for money. The charge for this audit is £100.

Become a Glass Guardian

Children aged 7 to 11 years have the chance to become 'Glass Guardians'. Friends of Glass have worked with British Glass and National Schools Partnership to create a programme. This teaches children about the importance of glass recycling.

It aims to encourage young people to champion the importance of recycling. It includes tasks for English, Maths, Science, PSHE and Citizenship, plus a competition.
