Before using this form you should attempt to resolve the issue with the hedge owner.
After completing this form you must send a copy to the hedge owner/people living in the property where the hedge is located.
Complaints about a high hedge are made under Part 8 of the Anti-social Behaviour Act 2003. The form should be completed by the person making the complaint or their representative.
Before you begin, it would be helpful to have these to hand:
- Details of discussions you have had with the hedge owner in an attempt to resolve the issue.
- Copies of any letters or documents you may have in relation to previous attempts to resolve the issue.
- Photos of the hedge that support your complaint.
- A plan or sketch of both the site where the hedge is growing and the property it is affecting, with the hedge clearly marked on it.
- Details about any previous complaints made to the Council about the hedge (include the date and reference number on the Council's decision letter if known).
- Name, address and contact details of all the persons and properties involved.
This form can only be used if the hedge meets all of the following conditions:
- Made up of a line of two or more trees.
- Mainly evergreen (keeps its leaves all year round).
- At least two metres high.
