Concern has been expressed by Christ Church school that motorists are parking on the existing 8am - 6pm restriction opposite the school. This parking makes it dangerous for pedestrians, particularly school children, crossing Park Road.
As a result, it is proposed to replace the existing no waiting 8am – 6pm restriction with a SCHOOL KEEP CLEAR marking to operate Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm. It is felt that a SCHOOL KEEP CLEAR will be more respected than the current restriction and deter parking. The proposed marking will extend from its junction with Clifton Street to its junction with Exeter Street.
It is also proposed to extend the existing SCHOOL KEEP CLEAR outside the school to tie in with the length of the new marking; this will create a length of Park Road that is free from parked vehicles enabling pedestrians to cross with good sight lines.
