Cooling towers and evaporative condensers have been linked to outbreaks of legionnaires' disease, which is a type of pneumonia.
To help find places where this could happen, we must be told about them.
We keep a register of these, which is then made available to the Health and Safety Executive.
Register a cooling tower
You can register online via GOV.UK:
Change a cooling tower registration
Note: There is no fee for registration. Also, if all required details are given:
- We aim to acknowledge a registration (in writing) within two weeks of receipt.
- If not, it can delay the registration.
Will tacit authorisation apply?
We cannot refuse to register these.
