The Supporting Stronger Neighbourhoods programme is a strategic grants with this vision:

Strong neighbourhoods which contribute to all aspects of economic and social wellbeing and enhance our sense of place. This will be achieved through effective partnerships, coordination and support for communities to achieve the Council's ambitions.

Applications were invited for projects which addressed these priority themes:

  • Reduce inequality.
  • Create thriving towns and places.
  • Climate emergency.

There was an open grant round, which was administered by the Community Foundation for Calderdale. After this, awards were made to the groups below for three year projects from April 2024 to 2027:

Colt Enterprise (Calderdale) Ltd

  • £31,784.

To support volunteering by vulnerable groups, which include the long-term unemployed and people in recovery from addiction.

Ed Shift CIC

  • £52,239.

To expand capacity to deliver creative therapies for children affected by domestic violence abuse.

Noah' Ark Centre

  • £53,678.

To provide therapeutic support to parent/carers using trained volunteers to improve outcomes for parents and children.

Healthy Minds

  • £46,385.

To facilitate access to volunteering for our South Asian community by delivering culturally sensitive mental health support and training.

St Augustine's Centre

  • £41,543.

To support a volunteering and befriending programme that assists people who seek asylum and new refugees.

Visits Unlimited CIC

  • £44,361.

To facilitate volunteering by disabled people and increase representation in strategic work to improve accessibility in Calderdale.
