This course will enable you to explore a variety of options, apps and websites which will help enhance your marketing skills.
You will:
- Be introduced to key digital marketing concepts to help you explore roles or self-employment opportunities in marketing, retail, or creative industries.
- Improve your digital confidence and literacy by learning practical use of free tools like Canva, WordPress, and free website builders to help you grow your digital skills.
- Improve your confidence using social media, email, and websites to reach the right audience.
- Develop transferable workplace skills such as communication, planning, organisation, content creation, and basic budgeting.
- Develop your problem-solving and self-management, skills by completing real-world tasks such as designing adverts, analysing audiences, and scheduling social media content.
- Build presentation and teamwork skills through group activities and peer feedback, preparing learners for customer-facing or team-based work environments.
- Gain experience in planning, presenting, and giving feedback – useful skills for any workplace.
- Work in a supportive group and take part in fun, practical activities to build your confidence.
- Set personal goals, track your own progress, and feel proud of what you achieve.

Residents of Calderdale aged 19+ who want to gain knowledge and sills that will prepare them to enter voluntary work or employment.
First Step - The start of your learning journey. Explore how you can build your confidence, connect with others, and learn new skills to start achieving your goals.
What do I need to bring?
- A note pad and a pen.
You will use Google Classroom throughout your course to view work from your lessons, receive messages from your tutor, and access online resources. You can access this on your smartphone, tablet, or laptop/computer. Your tutor will support you to log-in during your first lesson, and the Learner Support team is always on hand to help with any issues.
