Course description
Explore drama and movement through a range of fun games and improvisation techniques designed to get the imagination and the body working. Be part of a group with like-minded learners and tutors who support you every step of the way. Learn how your new skills and knowledge can be used outside of the classroom in everyday life.
You will:
- Develop communication and social skills by working as a group to put together a performance.
- Build confidence by speaking and performing infront of others.
- Explore creativity in script writing, costume design, acting, and musical choices.
- Learn to use basic acting techniques, such as mime and improvisation.
- Explore basic theatrical terms and stage management.
- Improve your memory, attention, and problem-solving skills.
- Boost your self-esteem and gain a sense of achievement when putting on a final performance.
- Improve your focus, concentration, and ability to focus on tasks.
- Meet new people, connect and interact in a group.

Who is this course for?
Residents of Calderdale aged 19+ with learning disabilities who want to meet new people and improve their independence while learning new skills at a pace that’s suitable for them.

What do I need to bring?
You will use Google Classroom throughout your course to view work from your lessons, receive messages from your tutor, and access online resources. You can access this on your smartphone, tablet, or laptop/computer. Your tutor will support you to log-in during your first lesson, and the Learner Support team is always on hand to help with any issues.
