Course description
Explore your health and wellbeing through being creative. Art is a safe space where we can experiment, take risks, and learn to fix our mistakes so we become resilient. Good mental health isn’t about being happy all the time, it’s about being adaptable and overcoming the ups and downs that happen in life.
Through learning painting, drawing, and creative skills, you will:
- Improve dexterity, fine motor skills, and hand-eye coordination through painting and drawing.
- Reduce stress by taking the time to focus, relax, and express yourself through creativity.
- Boost your self-esteem by turning your ideas into works of art.
- Reduce any feelings of loneliness and isolation by connecting and interacting with like minded people and making new friends.
- Foster new ways of thinking, build resilience, and learn to problem solve.

Residents of Calderdale aged 19+ who want to improve their mental or physical health and wellbeing, and learn how to live a happier lifestyle.

What do I need to bring?
You will use Google Classroom throughout your course to view work from your lessons, receive messages from your tutor, and access online resources. You can access this on your smartphone, tablet, or laptop/computer. Your tutor will support you to log-in during your first lesson, and the Learner Support team is always on hand to help with any issues.
