Get to know other people and interact with the community through textile art and crafts. Art is a safe space where we can experiment and learn to fix our mistakes so we become resilient.
You will:
- Explore creative activities like drawing, painting, sewing, and fabric work.
- Work together as a group to design and create textile wall hanging for a community exhibition.
- Improve fine motor skills, dexterity, and hand-eye coordination through hands-on activities.
- Build confidence by sharing ideas, trying new skills, and discussing your work.
- Learn about global textile and art traditions, promoting cultural understanding.
- Create a safe space to reflect, make mistakes, and develop resilience.
- Connect with others, build friendships, and foster a sense of belonging.
- Take pride in your achievements and build the confidence to engage in further community or learning activities.

Residents of Calderdale aged 19+ who want to strengthen their role within their local community while learning and exploring a culture different to their own.

What do I need to bring?
You will use Google Classroom throughout your course to view work from your lessons, receive messages from your tutor, and access online resources. You can access this on your smartphone, tablet, or laptop/computer. Your tutor will support you to log-in during your first lesson, and the Learner Support team is always on hand to help with any issues.
