Carr Green Lane, Crowtrees Lane & Oaklands, Brighouse - Proposed Waiting Restrictions

Proposed waiting restrictions to maintain the free flow of traffic and improve sight lines for both motorists and pedestrians at three locations in Brighouse.

Carr Green Lane

Concern has been raised regarding parking on Carr Green Lane hindering access to the school, cemetery, sports fields and driveways to residential properties.

As a result it is proposed to implement ‘no waiting at any time’ restrictions on the majority of Carr Green Lane. The proposals will maintain the free flow of traffic, maintain access to the various establishments on Carr Green Lane and prevent parking at the junctions of Wentworth Court and Carr Green Drive, maintaining sightlines and access there. There will be a number of unrestricted lengths to allow for parking.

It is also proposed to provide a SCHOOL KEEP CLEAR marking opposite the existing one; this will provide a vehicle free area for pedestrians to cross.

Crowtrees Lane

As part of the planning permission to convert the current property at Sovereign House to a convenience store a condition was included to provide ‘no waiting at any time & no loading/unloading at any time’ restrictions on Crowtrees Crescent and Crowtrees Lane

The restrictions will prevent motorists from parking on Crowtrees Lane to either deliver to or call at the store. This will maintain sight lines for motorists leaving the store car park and also give motorists unobstructed views of pedestrians using the footway to the front of the store.

The restrictions on Crowtrees Crescent will prevent motorists from parking maintaining access for residents.

Oaklands

Concern has been raised regarding parking taking place on Oaklands. The parking takes place on a number of bends and impedes the public services vehicles that travel through Oaklands causing delays to the service. In some instances the bus service has had to be diverted inconveniencing bus users. There is also the concern that the parking may cause obstruction to larger vehicles and emergency service vehicles.

The parking also hinders the bus service that attends nearby Rastrick High School.

To prevent the parking it is proposed intended to implement ‘no waiting at any time’ restrictions on the bends on Oaklands to maintain the free flow of traffic.
