In an emergency incident:
- You can be asked to leave your home;
- or be unable to go back home for a period of time.
The Police or Fire and Rescue Service will:
- Decide if this needs to happen.
- State how long it will be for, which will depend on the type of incident.
If this is the case, it is best for you to stay with family or friends if possible. If this is not an option, we will offer you a place at a rest centre. These give you a place to stay overnight or short-term. If an incident means you need something long-term our housing team will give you advice and assistance.
Please note: Rest centres cannot take pets. Evacuees must make other arrangements for their animals.
