Buildings are the biggest source of carbon emissions in Calderdale. We urgently need to reduce these. Low carbon buildings will be cheaper to run, warmer and more resilient to the effects of climate change.
Key actions
- Develop a fair retrofit strategy. This will set out the steps needed to make 69,000 homes low carbon by 2038.
- Create a list of local tradespeople who can provide affordable home retrofitting.
- Continue to work on flood resilience and wider climate adaption for our buildings.
How you can help
- Install a smart meter in your home so you know how much energy you are using. Speak to your energy supplier for more details. Smart meters explained.
- Get a current EPC rating. This will help you see what energy efficiency improvements you can take and where you can make savings.
