Infection prevention and control is everyone’s business.
The Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) service support the delivery of clean safe care. They improve and maintain quality in the delivery of care across the Calderdale Health and Social Care sector. This is required to meet the statutory responsibilities relating to IPC.
The IPC service:
- Monitors incidence and infection in Calderdale.
- Responds to incidents and outbreaks within Calderdale adult services.
- Advises on issues relating to the prevention and control of infection.
- Produce and review policies/guidelines that provide education to support effective infection prevention and control.
- Advise health and social care commissioners to ensure services provide clean safe care.
The team provides the following IPC activities across Calderdale:
- Advice.
- Education.
- Investigation.
- Development.
- Monitoring.

Acute respiratory infections (ARI’s)
The guidance provides information on infection prevention and control (IPC) measures for acute respiratory infections (ARI’s), including COVID-19 and Influenza. It applies to adult social care providers, managers of adult social care services and adult social care staff in England.

This document is an evidence-based practice IPC manual for all involved in care provisions within England. The manual will ensure a consistent approach to infection prevention and control; however, some operational and organisational details may differ.
