Find out about permits to park in Resident Permit Zones where there is no other parking option.

This allows health workers to park in Resident Permit Zones (RPZs) where there is no other parking option. It is:

  • Only for home visits to properties in RPZs.

Eligibility

To get this permit, you must provide us with:

  • 12 months from the date of issued (and valid seven days a week).

There is a £35 admin fee per permit.

How to apply

You can apply for your virtual permit online.

When you apply, you will get an email from us to confirm that we got it.

  • When this has been reviewed, you will get another email that is your formal offer of a permit.
  • You must accept the offer in 'My permit applications' within 'My account'.
  • Once payment has been made the permit can be used right away. (There is no need to display anything in your vehicle.)

Renewing a parking permit

Permits are not renewed automatically. The permit holder responsible for doing this. A reminder is sent:

  • To the account holder's registered email address.
  • At 14 days from expiry for permits bought with less than one month.
  • At 28 and 14 days from expiry for permits bought with more than one month.

Terms and conditions for health worker permits

It is important that the driver and permit holder comply with the terms and conditions of use. This is to make sure that a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) is not issued.

Parking Services will not cancel any PCNs where the T&Cs (below) are not adhered to.

  1. The permit is just for use on visits to addresses within the practice area where:
    • Resident Parking Zones are in place;
    • and there is no other parking available.
  2. The permit must not be used to park:
    • All day.
    • At your place of work.
  3. The permit must not be used for:
    • Hospital visits.
    • Personal use.
  4. The permit cannot be used:
    • Where there are waiting restrictions indicated by yellow lines.
    • In pay and display bays. This includes areas that are of shared use between pay and display and resident permit holders only. In these areas a pay and display ticket must be purchased.
  5. The permit is not valid in any car parks.
  6. If you change your vehicle, you must update your Vehicle Registration Mark (VRM). This can be done via the online permit portal at any time. Only one vehicle can be selected at any one time.
