West Yorkshire Mass Transit Spatial Development Framework

This joint Development Plan Document aims to make sure new homes, business spaces, services and public spaces are built in the right places, in the right way, to maximise the benefits from Mass Transit.

This draft joint Development Plan Document (DPD) has been prepared by the five West Yorkshire Local Planning Authorities. This was through a Joint Committee, supported by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority (the Combined Authority).

It will provide a West Yorkshire-wide strategic spatial framework to:

  • Support the delivery of all current and future phases of West Yorkshire Mass Transit.
  • Ensure a coordinated approach to land use, growth, regeneration and transport decisions across Local Planning Authority boundaries.

Once adopted by the five West Yorkshire Local Planning Authorities, it will:

  • form part of their statutory development plans;
  • and will carry the same weight in planning decision making as Local Plans.

Consultation

This is the first stage, known as 'Regulation 18'. In this, we seek views on the scope and content of the draft joint DPD.

We want to hear from:

  • the public;
  • businesses;
  • community groups;
  • charitable organisations;
  • statutory bodies;
  • and other stakeholders.
